I like whole milk.  I’ve been a whole milk drinker my whole life.  I will continue to enjoy it.  If I had kids, I would serve it to them.

This apparently makes me a potentially terrible parent and an idiot.

Yes, a cup of whole milk has 46% calories from fat.  But when you put it into the context of a 2000 calorie diet, that’s 3.5%.

So rather than demonize whole milk for that 46%, why not look at the big picture of your fat calories are in a day?  Or better yet, over the course of a week??

I will admit I am having an “I love cheese” day today.  I will have some high fat counts by the end of the day.  But I’m quite certain tomorrow is going to be an “I love carrots” day.

And I’m trying to figure out what on earth to do about dinner.  I don’t want to make anything that will result in leftovers, and I really don’t want to have any pots or pans to clean up, because I’ll have plenty of those tomorrow.

I have the makings for a salad, but it doesn’t sound terribly satisfying at the moment.  There are a few frozen things in the freezer I could microwave, but none of them are screaming, “This is REALLY what you want!”

If I’d been smart, I’d have ordered Chinese last night. :)

Another good argument for proper meal planning.

It’s cheap, it’s healthy, and sadly, it’s boring as hell.

I have several chicken breasts in the freezer (thank you, Costco!) and I am scraping for ideas of what to do with them.  I have a few favorites – my chicken salad is one, but it’s more of a summer dish.  My baked chicken breasts are tasty, but it is a recipe that isn’t yelling to me.

I did stumble on an idea today – fajitas!  So, I need to hunt down a recipe for a decent marinade so I can attempt this.

I did an online order for groceries yesterday, cause I’m a lazy git. One of the things I ordered was flour tortillas.

Normally I get Pepito tortillas in the store, but they don’t carry them online, so I just went with Pinata, as I didn’t recognize the couple other brands. After the groceries came this evening, I decided to have a quick cheese quesadilla.

Damn, I forgot how bad Pinata’s flour tortillas are. I blame the lack of lard. (They actually point it out in the packaging.) They’re dry, too thin, and generally taste a bit like cardboard.

Yes, definitely time to try the other brands should I need to do another online order.

Yes, it would seem that I have been in a serious rut of late. Maybe it’s the weather, but I am just greatly lacking in inspiration.

I feel like I have managed to cook everything I know how to cook!

The project for the week is to fix that.

My mind is completely whirling with the possibilities.
