So, I was out and about today and decided to check out the new Bloom grocery store. Food Lion has replaced just about all their NoVa stores with the new Bloom brand and have been marketing it pretty heavily. I was curious to see if it was actually different or not.
The Food Lion’s up here were OK, but not great. (As opposed to the ones down in OBX, which are very nice – odd.) Bloom’s are basically the same thing with new graphics and a few small, new departments – more organic, some more prepared foods, but really nothing exciting at all.
The oddest thing is that in my experience, people tend to shop from the right hand of the store to the left hand side. And yet, Bloom has all the frozen foods on the far right hand aisle. Doesn’t make sense to me.
So, Wegman’s is still far and away the best market in the area. Even though it’s 20 minutes away, it’s worth it. And that is where I did my shopping today so we can either have meatloaf or Swedish Meatballs for dinner tomorrow evening.
